Import

We have over 40 years of experience in handling the importation process of goods into Colombian territory.

With ACOLCEX S.A.S CUSTOMS BROKER, we provide advice and support throughout the necessary process to achieve importation, thereby avoiding unnecessary costs and customs, tax, and exchange-related sanctions.

      1. To act as an importer, you must belong to the Common Regime, be registered with the Chamber of Commerce, and have a Unique Taxpayer Registry             (RUT), as this is the mechanism used by the National Directorate of Taxes and Customs (DIAN) to identify and classify those responsible for processes         supervised by this Directorate. It is important to note that you must process the specific importer registration (box 54 of the RUT) at the DIAN offices                 designated for this purpose.

      2. We conduct a detailed analysis of your merchandise to locate the tariff subheading for each product. This step is crucial because the correct classification determines the correct payment of tariff duties and value-added tax (VAT).

     3. Taking into account the tariff classification, it is important to determine if the products are subject to approvals and registrations with the various entities       that regulate the commercialization of products in Colombia. These entities include, for example:

  • ICA
  • INVIMA
  • Ministry of Mines and Energy
  • Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development
  • Ministry of Transportation
  • Ministry of Agriculture
  • Superintendency of Private Security Oversight
  • Superintendency of Industry and Commerce

     4. Process Import Registration with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism. Import registration will be mandatory for those goods that require a             permit or authorization for free importation. Registrations are processed through the Single Foreign Trade Window (VUCE): vuce.gov.co.

     5. It is important to emphasize that, in order to process an import, you must have supporting documentation:

     6. Commercial Invoice

     7. Packing List

     8. Import License or Permit if required

    9. Certificate of Origin (depending on the product and its country of origin)

   10. Import Declaration

   11. Andean Declaration of Value if required

   12. Transport Document

   13. Certificates and approvals if required.
